Shower Head, Rain Shower, and Fixtures

Shower head

Everyone loves having a proper shower with steaming hot water, plenty of rich soap, a nice soothing environment followed up with a dry, warm towel. Many people wish the feeling was endless and the hot water would never run out, work and responsibilities were non-existent, and the spa supplies never ran out. Unfortunately most showers are brief, only a quick preparation for the day or night ahead. This makes it important to have a pleasurable experience in a much shorter time.

The shower head has made quite a progression over time from simply sitting outside on a rainy day to modern shower heads with pulsating streams, adjustable nozzles and water flows, pause buttons for lathering up, and even WiFi receivers that decode a playlist from a computer and play music while the water is running. Some shower faucets mix air into the water for a more rain shower experience, some have multiple heads for a wrap around effect, and some are so wildly designed that they don’t even look like a shower fixture but some sort of futuristic mechanical device or even a gas mask coming out of the tile.

Shower heads can be made from a wide variety of materials to suit any aesthetic from traditional chrome shower fixtures to porcelain, copper, glass, stone, plastic plus a wide variety of combinations, finishes, patinas, and sizes. There really is no limitation to the design beside the flow of water and some are just that simple, looking more like a stray pipe coming out of the wall or ground than a traditional shower nozzle. A steam shower emitts steam, which never gets above 118 degrees. Sitting in a shower full of ucalyptus-scented steam can be a great way to end the day.

The nozzle isn’t the only part with interesting innovations. Even the shower valve has changed from the simple twist knob into a wide variety of designs, although a well designed traditional knob is still fashionable. Rotating balls, sliding bars, and even foot controls have been used to control temperature and water flow among other features. Colored lights have even been integrated giving the water a user defined glow which can make a shower look like a soothing green rainforest or a passionate inferno.

There are even showers that defy gravity and shoot the water up from the ground cleaning those hard to reach parts. Add a foaming brush and a few more nozzles and it could be called a car wash.

If the area has hard or bad water a shower filter can easily be installed in a number of different locations such as right before the nozzle or right next to the water heater. There is no use in cleaning anything in dirty water which can easily clog up the miniature nozzle holes rendering the head useless and the body dirty. In older homes it may be advisable to replace pipes for the cleanest and most refreshing water and remember that water conservation is still incredibly important and regulated in many states. In California for example every home has to have low flow shower nozzles which can limit the choices, but most companies now offer a low flow design to fit any budget or style.
